Vol. 519 No. 5

Written Answers. - Citizenship Applications.

Nora Owen

Question:

279 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will make a decision on an application for citizenship by a person (details supplied) in County Dublin married to an Irish citizen. [14086/00]

The application referred to by the Deputy is an application for Irish citizenship by way of post nuptial declaration. It was received in my Department on 19 July, 1999 and is being processed. Due to the high numbers of applications being received, the average processing time is, at present, in excess of nine months. It is expected that this application will be completed within the next few months.

As soon as the case has been completed, I will inform both the applicant and the Deputy.
