Vol. 519 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

John McGuinness

Question:

297 Mr. J. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will outline his intentions in relation to the manning of the Garda station in Ballyragget, County Kilkenny; if he will consider establishing a full time presence in Ballyragget as was the case up to recently; and the reason for the delay in dealing with this issue. [14351/00]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that a vacancy arose at Ballyragget on 11 April 2000 as a result of the retirement of a garda there and that it is anticipated that the vacancy will be filled in the very near future. The Garda authorities have also informed me that an adequate policing service is currently being provided to the area.
