Vol. 519 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

331 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will expedite approval of qualifications in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford who is being paid a reduced rate despite almost consistent employment as a teacher since she returned from the United Kingdom in 1997; when this teacher's position will be regularised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14150/00]

A request for sanction to appoint the person in question to a teaching post was received in my Department in February 2000. My Department sought necessary details to enable the teacher's qualifications to be assessed. Information in this regard has been received only very recently and has been referred to my Department's inspectorate for assessment. I assure the Deputy that the case will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
