Question:

363 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give details of the trend in first year enrolments and in graduates in sciences at university and the institutes of technology over the past ten years, classifying according to the major subject areas. [14474/00]

My Department annually gathers field of study data for the first year enrolments for the colleges in question for full-time students only. In regard to the Sciences, including computing and mathematics, data in this regard for the institutes of technology and universities is as follows:
