125 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if he has received an application for funding from Ballinasloe Urban District Council to modernise Ballinasloe swimming pool; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the pool is now closed and that this is a cause of huge inconvenience to so many young families in Ballinasloe and the wider hinterland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation (Dr. McDaid):

There is no up-to-date proposal to refurbish Ballinasloe swimming pool in my Department at present. However, I am aware that the pool is closed and I understand that the council has appointed consultants to advise on the matter.
