Question:171 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Finance the moneys received by way of tobacco taxes in the year ending 31 December 1999; and the moneys received by way of tobacco taxes for the first quarter of the year 2000. [15208/00]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the information requested by the Deputy is as follows. The receipts received by way of tobacco excise duty and VAT in 1999 are estimated at £858 million.
The figures for the first quarter of this year are provisionally estimated at £116 million.
