Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Programme for Peace and Reconciliation.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

179 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Finance the consultation process used by his Department in relation to the new programme for peace and reconciliation; and if voluntary local development groups along the Border were included. [15357/00]

The community and voluntary sectors, in addition to other strands of the social partnership, had a substantial input into the shape of the successor to the programme for peace and reconciliation. The views of such organisations in the Border counties were canvassed over the summer months of 1999 and a major conference was held in Monaghan at end September 1999 to assist in achieving a common approach and purpose. The community and voluntary sectors had a substantial input into the running of the conference, and provided rapporteurs and facilitators to assist the various workshops.
