Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Richard Bruton

Question:

198 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he received a report from the board of Beaumont Hospital on the possibility of providing a special children's unit in Beaumont Hospital to serve the needs of the local catchment area; and if he will make a statement on his plans to fund this proposal. [14975/00]

I have had inquiries made of the Eastern Regional Health Authority and have been informed that no report on the possibility of providing a special children's unit in Beaumont Hospital to serve the needs of the local catchment area has been prepared by the board of the hospital. I assure the Deputy that any such proposal, if submitted, will be considered by my Department within the context of available resources and other competing demands.
