Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Pat Carey

Question:

369 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Education and Science the long-term measures he has put place in relation to the provision of education services to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14900/00]

I am aware of the case to which the Deputy refers.

My Department's inspectorate is currently in discussion with a special school on the north side of Dublin with a view to arranging a suitable early placement for the child in question.

In the meantime, my Department has sanctioned nine hours home tuition as an interim measure to cater for this child's special needs pending his long-term placement in an appropriate education setting.
