Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Teaching Qualifications.

Brendan Daly

Question:

373 Mr. Daly asked the Minister for Education and Science when incremental recognition will be given to a teacher (details supplied) in Dublin 16 who was made permanent in January 1999, and was started on the second point of the scale with recognition from 1997, university qualification date, rather than being given recognition for eligible part-time years between 1991 and 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14926/00]

Incremental credit may be awarded to second level teachers in respect of previous teaching service given in a qualified capacity.

I understand that the teacher in question has been employed in a qualified capacity since the 1997-98 school year and has been granted the appropriate incremental credit in respect of that service. The service given prior to 1997-98 was in an unqualified capacity and is not reckonable for incremental credit purposes.
