Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

John Bruton

Question:

397 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason his Department has refused to grant a person (details supplied) in County Meath the services of a remedial teacher; the reason he has not responded to letters written by the person's parents in relation to this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15200/00]

I very much regret the delay in responding to the parents of the child in question.

I have asked my Department's inspectorate to investigate the child's needs as a matter of urgency. Upon receipt of the inspectorate's report, my Department will be in touch with the school authorities and the child's parents on this matter.
