The vacancies cover a range of grades including clerical officer, executive officer and professional grades.
Out of a staff complement of almost 1,000 there will always be a number of vacancies but a total of 55 is somewhat higher than normal. However, an extensive recruitment campaign is under way at present and it is expected that many of these posts will be filled over the next few weeks.
No staff of the Department have given notice to resign and the number of staff who are due to retire this year is three. These officers however are on secondment to agencies outside the Department.
Recruitment, resignations and retirements within agencies are the responsibility of the agencies concerned.
