Vol. 520 No. 1

Written Answers. - Foreshore Licences.

Richard Bruton

Question:

94 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he has any application for new slipways on the Clontarf Road seafront, Dublin 3; and if a Foreshore Act permit is required in this regard. [14960/00]

My Department has no application on hand for any works on the foreshore adjacent to Clontarf Road. The Foreshore Acts, 1933-1998, require that before any work can commence on State owned foreshore an appropriate licence or lease must be obtained from me. Foreshore is the land and seabed between the high water of ordinary or medium tides, shown HWM on Ordnance Survey maps, and the 12 mile limit. Twelve nautical miles is approximately 22.24 kilometres.

If the Deputy is aware of any unauthorised works on the foreshore at Clontarf, he should contact the coastal zone administration division of my Department, which will promptly take the appropriate action.
