Vol. 520 No. 3

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Richard Bruton

Question:

137 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has assessed the situation of ex-Carysfort staff in respect of pensions and integration into their new institutions; the proposals he has sanctioned; the issues remaining to be resolved; and his position in relation to these unresolved issues. [15696/00]

The situation in regard to the incorporation of the former Carysfort staff into the pension schemes of the respective universities is currently under consideration between my Department, the Higher Education Authority, the relevant universities and the Department of Finance. My Department has also under consideration a proposal from the Irish Federation of University Teachers to integrate these staff onto university pay scales. Every effort is being made to resolve the issues involved as soon as possible.
