Vol. 520 No. 3

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Ó Caoláin. I call on Deputy Ó Caoláin to state the matter of which he has given notice to me.

I seek leave to move the Adjournment of the Dáil to discuss a specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, that is, the need for the Minister for Health and Children to intervene with urgency to ensure the provision of the promised review for promoted grades of psychiatric nurses in October 2000 with moneys to flow in 2001 in order to avert the imminent strike by the Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31. I cannot grant leave therefore to move the motion.
