Vol. 520 No. 4

Written Answers. - Alzheimer's Unit.

Michael Finucane

Question:

133 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Health and Children the status regarding the provision of an alzheimers unit for a hospital (details supplied) in County Limerick; when construction will be completed and the unit becomes operational. [16134/00]

The provision of an alzheimer's unit for the hospital referred to by the Deputy is a priority development of the Mid-Western Health Board and is included in the board's capital development programme as part of the national development plan. The board has recently written to my Department regarding the acceptance of tenders for the scheme and this matter is currently being examined in the Department. I am not as yet in a position to confirm timescales for the Deputy but the matter will be dealt with as expeditiously as possible.
