Vol. 520 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Willie Penrose

Question:

171 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science when a school (details supplied) in County Westmeath will be given final approval to proceed to construct a community hall; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16234/00]

An application has been received for the provision of a physical education hall at the school to which the Deputy refers.

The development of standard plans for PE halls is currently at an advanced stage in the building unit of my Department. Once finalised, it is intended to use these standard plans to expedite the architectural planning of individual PE hall projects on a phased basis. The provision of a PE hall at the school in question will be dealt with in this way.

Question:

172 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will sanction the application for increased accommodation and an additional teacher for a school (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16235/00]

Architectural planning for the project in question is under way and proceeding as quickly as possible having regard to the large number of school building projects on hand within my Department.

This school will gain an extra teacher with effect from September 2000.
