Written Answers. - Pay Negotiations.
The ASTI submitted a claim for a 30% increase in salary and allowances for teachers to the teachers conciliation council on 14 March 2000. My Department responded to the claim by offering the pay terms of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness which was rejected by the ASTI on 24 May 2000. The claim will now be referred to arbitration in accordance with the provisions of the revised teachers conciliation and arbitration scheme.
