Vol. 521 No. 1

Written Answers. - Land Sale.

Michael Ring

Question:

134 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if the Land Commission would be prepared to sell off bog land leased out to persons (details supplied) in County Mayo. [16631/00]

The bogland in question, which consists of some 47.583 hectares, forms part of the Orme Estate. The Land Commission retained the fee simple only in this bog. A notice of sale was published in The Western People on 11 February 2000 and two applications have been received. This sale does not affect the turbary rights on the bog.

It is intended to sell the fee simple in one lot. A group application would be considered but would need to be made immediately as proposals for the sale are currently being finalised.
