245 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the amount of grants sanctioned to the Gaeltacht areas under Scéim na mBóithre Áise in 1999 and 2000; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16689/00]

Following is a table which indicates the amounts sanctioned on a county by county basis in the years 1999 and so far this year, under Scéim na mBóithre Áise.

It should be noted that in addition to the moneys originally provided under Scéim na mBóithre Áise additional funding was also sanctioned in 1999 for road improvement works in Gaeltacht areas.

It should also be noted that major further funding for roads will be announced for Gaeltacht areas in the near future.
