I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Joe Higgins. I call on Deputy Higgins to state the matter.
Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
(Dublin West): I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter – the brutal, racially motivated attack on a mixed-race group of people in Pearse Street, Dublin, on Sunday, 11 June, which left one man close to death, the pattern of such racially motivated attacks over the past period and what public policy should be put in place to prevent this evil occurring in the State.
Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 31 and, therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
