Vol. 521 No. 3

Written Answers. - Northern Ireland Issues.

Jack Wall

Question:

39 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs when the next meeting of the North-South Ministerial Council is due to take place; the proposed agenda for the meeting; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14940/00]

The Deputy will appreciate that the North/South Ministerial Council was unable to meet during the suspension of the Northern Executive and Assembly, due to the absence of northern Ministers.

Now that the Institutions have been restored, the NSMC has resumed its full range of activities and the next meeting of the council is scheduled to take place in Dublin on Friday 16 June 2000 to discuss matters relating to the Special EU Programmes Implementation Body.

Further meetings of the council to discuss the agreed areas of co-operation and the Implementation bodies are scheduled to take place before the summer break.

Arrangements are also being made to hold the second plenary meeting of the council, which is due to take place in Dublin.
