Vol. 521 No. 4

Written Answers. - Autism Services.

John Browne

Question:

136 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Health and Children if the South Eastern Health Board is able to provide services to help a person (details supplied) in County Carlow who is suffering from Asperger's Syndrome; and the reason the parents of the child have not been contacted to date by the official concerned given that the South Eastern Health Board was informed verbally in December 1999 and in writing on 30 March 2000 of the need for help. [17062/00]

The provision of services to children with autism in the Carlow region is the responsibility of the South Eastern Health Board in the first instance. As it would not be appropriate to provide the information sought by the Deputy in relation to the individual concerned by way of reply to a parliamentary question, I will write to the Deputy with the relevant information shortly.
