57 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Defence if the Air Corps report on safety of aviation operations in the surrounding area of Baldonnel is finalised; if he will publish the report; if he has discussed the report with the FAI; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17587/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 44, 45, 51 and 57 together.

My Department lodged an objection with South Dublin County Council in connection with an application by the FAI to erect a new stadium at Gibbons townland as the proposal may impact on the Department's policy in relation to the safety of aviation operations and the future development of Casement Aerodrome. In this regard, my officials have met with representatives of the FAI to discuss the matter and the Department has clarified its position in relation to the FAI application.

The most recent meeting between the Department and the FAI took place on 7 June. At this meeting a report prepared by the Air Corps in relation to the adverse impact of the proposed stadium on Air Corps operations from an operational and safety viewpoint was given to the FAI representatives. Their comments and observations on the report are just to hand and will be considered by my Department in the coming days. At the same meeting the FAI presented the Department with its response to South Dublin County Council's request for additional information. This report is currently being examined by my Department.

It is proposed to make all reports available when the deliberations in the matter have been concluded.
