Vol. 521 No. 5

Written Answers. - Irish Red Cross Society.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

48 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Defence if, in regard to his commitment to nominate a member of staff to the council of the Irish Red Cross Society, he will say when this will be done; if there will be consultation with staff in advance of the nomination; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17500/00]

The Government, in nominating persons to the central council, takes into account the overall qualifications of the individuals nominated to this important body.

The Government carefully considers and nominates persons to the central council of the Irish Red Cross Society who it deems will make a positive contribution to the affairs of the society. I expect nominations will be made in the near future.
