Vol. 522 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Phil Hogan

Question:

312 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide additional capital funding to Kilkenny County Council for sewerage treatment facilities to serve residents of the townlands of New Road, Torbearoe, Old Road and Larve in the parish of Moonenroe in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18297/00]

I expect to announce details of block grant allocations to county councils in respect of group water and sewerage schemes shortly.

It is a matter for each county council to determine which schemes are funded from their individual block grants.

Question:

313 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide additional capital funding to Kilkenny County Council to implement the recently published consultants' report ( details supplied) in response to the improvements of water supply and water quality to Kilkenny city and county; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18298/00]

The water and sewerage schemes identified by Kilkenny County Council in response to my Department's request for local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of needs for capital works in their areas, and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments, will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment for this and future years under the National Development Plan 2000-2006. I understand that the report referred to was taken into account by the council in the preparation of its assessment.
