Vol. 522 No. 2

Written Answers. - Holiday Visas.

Enda Kenny

Question:

408 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason applicants (details supplied) for holiday visa entry into Ireland were refused visas in spite of absolute guarantees of their return being given; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18288/00]

The visa applications in question were refused because it had not been established, on the basis of the documentation supplied to my Department, that the applicants would observe the conditions of a visit visa. The additional documentation referred to by the Deputy was not received in my Department nor were any absolute guarantees given. It is open to the applicants to appeal against the refusal of a visa by writing to the visa appeals officer in my Department and provided the additional documentation referred to can be supplied an appeal is likely to succeed.
