Vol. 522 No. 2

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Richard Bruton

Question:

459 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give details of the special class to be established in a school (details supplied) in County Dublin. [18126/00]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department has recently sanctioned the establishment of two special classes in the school in question for pupils with autism.

Each special class, which will cater for a maximum of six pupils, receives the support of a class teacher, a special needs assistant and enhanced capitation funding.

In addition, an outreach support service will be provided by the relevant health authority.
