Vol. 522 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Dan Neville

Question:

102 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a REP scheme payment will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick who voluntarily agreed to give some land to Limerick County Council which it requested for road improvements. [18893/00]

The fifth year application for payment from the person named has been chosen at random for a full plan and on farm inspection. A letter to this effect has issued to the applicant. No payment can be made until the inspection process has been completed. Where lands are transferred or otherwise disposed off during the period of a REPS contract – other than through compulsory purchase order or where lands are afforested under Regulation (EEC) No. 2080/92 – all aid already paid proportionate to the transferred land must be reimbursed. As the lands in question were not transferred or disposed of because of a compulsory purchase order or through afforestation, the applicant's fifth year payment will reflect a proportionate reduction with effect from the first year of his participation in the scheme. My Department will be in touch with him directly in the near future to inform him of the details.
