Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

119 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Finance if each of the local authorities requested have responded to the feasibility report in relation to the flooding at Hazelhatch, Celbridge, County Kildare; when the report will be finalised; and the likely timeframe for completion of the environmental impact statement and other surveys in relation to this flooding to enable works on alleviation measures to commence. [19013/00]

Each of the local authorities have responded to the feasibility report in relation to the flooding at Hazelhatch, Celbridge, County Kildare and recommended a scheme option for advancement. The design of the Shinkeen river Hazelhatch drainage scheme is currently being undertaken by the Office of Public Works, which has commissioned ecological consultants to undertake an assessment of the environmental impacts of the scheme proposals. It is planned to complete the scheme design and the environmental impact assessment by the end of July with a view to the scheme reaching public exhibition stage in August, with works expected to commence on site in the autumn.
