Vol. 522 No. 4

Written Answers. - Special Areas of Conservation.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

216 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if Fingal County Council has accepted the conditions attached to the development funding of Lucan Demesne; if all the legal formalities transferring ownership of the relevant portions of the Demesne to each of the local authorities have been completed; if a programme of development works for 2000 has been agreed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [19017/00]

I have responded to a number of similar Questions on this issue already and the position remains broadly unchanged from that outlined in my response to the most recent one from the Deputy, question number 460 dated 10 May 2000.

Two of the three local authorities concerned have yet to complete the legal transfer documents but I am pleased to confirm that all of the local authorities have now confirmed acceptance of the conditions governing development funding secured by my Department over the next five years for the demesne.

The question of implementing development works in 2000 and subsequent years is primarily a matter for the three local authorities concerned and is best addressed by those local authorities viz. Fingal, Kildare and South Dublin.
