Vol. 522 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Willie Penrose

Question:

222 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will have an application for registration by persons (details supplied) in County Westmeath immediately finalised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18935/00]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 7 March 2000.

I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date for the application concerned at this stage. However, I can assure the Deputy that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.

John Perry

Question:

223 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will intervene on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo and have the documentation processed in view of the length of time it has been lodged; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18936/00]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this application refers to a transmission which was lodged on 23 November 1999 and completed on 28 June 2000.
