238 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the names and number of appointees to State agencies, bodies or boards made by him in the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18989/00]
I made a total of 14 appointments to state agencies, bodies and boards over the past 12 months as follows; Bord Fáilte: Mr. Redmond O'Donoghue. The Irish Sports Council which was established on a statutory basis on 1 July 1999: Mr. Pat O'Neill, Chairperson, Dr. Patrick Fottrell, Ms Mary Davis, Ms Sinead Behan, Ms Ann Tate, Mr. Tony Ward, Mr. Patrick McGonagle, Mr. Peter McLoone, Ms Helen O'Rourke, Mr. Maurice Ahern, Mr. Ronnie McBrien.
Following Mr. Tony Ward's resignation from the council, Mr Jerry O'Dwyer was appointed with effect from 18 February 2000.
I have also appointed Mr. Paul Bates to the Product Development Management Board – Bord Fáilte Area under the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-99
