Vol. 522 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Training Policy.

John Perry

Question:

64 Mr. Perry asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the plans she has that would ensure a business led process in the development and implementation of training policy, aimed at upgrading skill levels in business; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18836/00]

A business led process for the development of training in employment and upgrading skills levels in business is currently in place through the training networks programme, Skillnets. Skillnets is overseen by a board comprising members from the enterprise sector, the trade union movement and my Department.

Within the context of the ongoing development of national training policy and the proposed national training fund, my officials are in dialogue with the social partners regarding the potential for further development of enterprise led approaches.
