349 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Defence the current situation regarding recruitment at Columb Barracks, Mullingar, County Westmeath; and if he will give a commitment that personnel numbers at this barrack will not be reduced. [20592/00]
There are currently 39 recruits in training at Columb Barracks, Mullingar. The recruitment programme is ongoing and it is not possible to state at this stage when more recruits will be allocated to Columb Barracks. This is a matter to be decided by the General Officer Commanding, Western Brigade, based on the operational commitments of the brigade.
