1130 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will appoint a special classroom assistant for pupils (details supplied) in County Kildare to ensure their attendance at school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20662/00]
I propose to take Questions No. 1083 and 1130 together.
I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department has sanctioned a full-time special needs assistant for one of the pupils in question.
With regard to the second child, my Department has requested the local inspector to investigate and report on the educational needs of this pupil. On receipt of this report officials in my Department will be in contact with the school authorities.
