71 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the correspondence he has received from Sinn Féin with regard to the early release of prisoners held in this jurisdiction; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19243/00]
There is regular contact between officials in my Department and Sinn Féin in relation to a variety of issues including the early release of prisoners. Apart from representations from one Sinn Féin public representative on behalf of Provisional IRA prisoners, no other correspondence from Sinn Féin on this particular issue has been traced.
