Vol. 523 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Austin Deasy

Question:

93 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason no resource teacher has been provided to Scoil Ghabhán, Dungarvan, County Waterford, which is badly needed for a person (details supplied); and if he will ensure that this assistance is forthcoming. [21411/00]

I understand that an application for resource teacher support has been made by Scoil Ghabhan in respect of the child to which the Deputy refers and four other children with special needs attending the school.

The case put forward by the school is currently being examined by my Department's inspectorate and a decision on the matter is expected shortly. As soon as the inspectorate has reported, my Department will be in touch with the school authorities.
