Vol. 524 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Question:

156 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will provide a resource teacher and equipment to help a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 with reading; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21786/00]

I understand that my Department has not received an application for support for the pupil in question. An application was made recently to the school referred to by the Deputy to enrol the child in question. The principal of the school has requested the child's parents to submit relevant professional reports on the child's special needs to the school. These reports will provide a basis for determining the precise nature of any special supports required by the child.
