Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Willie Penrose

Question:

282 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps he will take to have a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath admitted to St. James Hospital, Dublin 8 for chemotherapy treatment, as she was not admitted on the due date, 9 October 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22138/00]

The provision of medical treatment in this case is the responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority in the first instance. My Department has asked the chief executive officer to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.
