Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Ivan Yates

Question:

337 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when approval will be given to the appointment of consultants for phase III of the Enniscorthy main drainage scheme; the subsequent procedure and construction for this project; and the likely timetable of the availability of the sanitary services arising out of the work on the scheme. [22259/00]

A brief for the appointment of consultants to prepare the preliminary report for this scheme is currently under examination in my Department. Approval of the brief is contingent on the completion and approval of the county sludge management plan for Wexford which is awaited from Wexford County Council.

The scheme has been included in the water and sewerage services investment programme, 2000-02, to be advanced through planning. This is the first phase of a rolling three year programme that will continue up to the end of the current national development plan in 2006. Consideration will be given to further progressing the scheme in that context.
