Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

339 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason an application by Kerry County Council for funding under the remedial works scheme for the provision of central heating in 120 local authority houses has been refused; if he will reconsider the application in view of the fact that most of these houses are occupied by elderly people; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22261/00]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 256 of 16 May 2000.

An incomplete application seeking assistance under the remedial works scheme for various works, including the installation of central heating, to 119 houses in a number of locations throughout the county, was received from Kerry County Council in my Department in May. The council was advised on 26 May that, if they wished to pursue the matter, it would be necessary for them to submit a completed application form incorporating the technical and cost details which would enable the proposal to be considered in my Department. No further correspondence has since been received from the council.
