Question:

418 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 96 of 8 February 2000, the detailed information in relation to juvenile offenders has yet been compiled by his Department; and, if so, if he will provide that information as soon as possible. [22009/00]

The information sought by the Deputy has been assembled and is set out as follows.

*The information for the year 2000 is up to 13 October 2000.
**The reasons that juveniles could not be accommodated, other than lack of places, were because the court orders were outside the scope of the certification of the centres, in terms of either age or the length of the period of detention.
