Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Bull Island Causeway.

Ivor Callely

Question:

108 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the progress being made on the resolution of Dublin City Council to breach the causeway at Bull Island, Dollymount, Dublin 3; the meetings his Department officials have held with other authorities on this matter; the progress arising from such meetings; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21244/00]

My Department approved grant aid for Dublin Corporation, at the rate of 75% and subject to a maximum of £112,500, towards the cost of a consultancy study of the effects of breaching the Bull Island causeway.

My Department has been advised by Dublin Corporation that the study, which is being undertaken for the local authority by ESB International, is at an early stage. A scoping report has been circulated to interested parties by the consultants, who will take account of comments received in carrying out the study.

My Department will liaise with Dublin Corporation in the course of the study.
