Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Coastal Protection.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

144 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the plans he has to provide funding to carry out coastal protection works at Waterville, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22045/00]

Funding of £120,000 was provided for Kerry County Council by my Department in 1999 for upgrading of existing coastal defences and road protection works at Waterville costing £160,000. Additional funding of up to £60,000 has been made available to the local authority in the current year for related works at that location.

My Department has received no proposals from Kerry County Council for further coast protection works at Waterville.
