Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Information Technology.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

183 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Defence the schemes and supports available from his Department or agencies under the aegis of his Department to schools, businesses, community groups and individuals, to promote information technology, including greater awareness of relevance, the development of skills and access to computers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22097/00]

The provision of formal schemes or supports to promote information technology to schools, businesses, community groups and individuals falls outside the remit of my Department. However, we are fully participating in developments under the Government initiative. This will facilitate electronic access by all interested and relevant groups to the Department's website and will encourage the use of information technology in an interactive way.
