Vol. 524 No. 2

Written Answers. - Compensation Claims.

Michael Ring

Question:

185 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Defence when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be examined by his Department's doctor to enable his claim for medical costs and loss of earnings to be finalised; and if the case will be expedited. [22173/00]

A completed application form for compensation in respect of loss of earnings and medical expenses under the non-statutory compensation scheme for members of the FCA injured in the course of duty was received from the person in question on 6 October 2000. A report has been sought from the military authorities into the circumstances in which the person received his injuries. When this report has been received and considered in the Department, the person's application will be processed to a conclusion as quickly as possible.
