Vol. 524 No. 3

Written Answers. - European Convention on Human Rights.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

50 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will give an update on such progress that has been made to date on our ratifying the outstanding protocols to the European Convention on Human Rights; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22344/00]

Priority is being given to two protocols attached to the European Convention on Human Rights, the ratification of Protocol 7 and the signature of Protocol 12. It is hoped that Protocol 7, which relates to equality issues, will be ratified in the very near future. Protocol 12, concerning anti-discrimination, will be signed during the commemoration ceremonies for the European Convention on Human Rights, 3-4 November 2000.
