Vol. 524 No. 3

Written Answers. - Foreign Conflicts.

John Gormley

Question:

70 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the representations he has made to the British or American Governments concerning their continuing air raids on Iraq. [22188/00]

The Government has expressed publicly its deep concern at the negative effects of the continuing military activity both in regard to the plight of the Iraqi people and because of the risk of destabilising consequences.

We were deeply disappointed that the use of force was deemed necessary. It was, and is, our clear preference that force should be kept to a minimum.
