Vol. 524 No. 4

Written Answers. - Home Tuition Fees.

Paul Bradford

Question:

153 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason secondary level teachers who provide home tuition to students granted such home tuition are not paid the appropriate payment until the end of each school term; if he will arrange to have this system of payment changed so that these teachers can receive this money in conjunction with their monthly salary cheques; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22822/00]

Traditionally, payments in respect of home tuition have been made following certification of the hours tuition actually delivered by the teachers. The reason for this was because the hours delivered could vary from the hours actually sanctioned by my Department.

However, I have asked my Department to see what improved arrangements can be made in the payment mechanisms.
